USA TODAY - Rep. Kennedy crashes car, blames medicine

Rep. Patrick Kennedy, son of Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, says he was disoriented from prescription medicines when he crashed his car into a security barrier near the Capitol early Thursday.
The Rhode Island congressman was not injured.
Kennedy, who has been open about his battles with substance abuse, said he had not been drinking alcohol before the crash. He issued a statement saying he “will fully cooperate” with police.
Kennedy, a Democrat, said he was feeling the effects of two drugs he had been prescribed: Phenergan, an anti-nausea medication for gastroenteritis, and Ambien, to help him sleep.
